Bronx Community College Director of Athletics Dionne Dodson has announced the hiring of Spencer Middleton as the new head coach of the Broncos women's basketball program.

A respected coach, mentor, and youth basketball leader throughout New York City, Middleton brings more than a decade of coaching experience at the youth, high school, and collegiate levels to Bronx Community College. His extensive ties to the city's basketball community, coupled with his commitment to student-athlete development, position him to lead the continued growth of the Broncos program.

"Coach Middleton is the perfect individual to continue the revitalization of the women's basketball program," said Director of Athletics Dionne Dodson. "He has the city youth connections and coaching experience needed to compete not only among the CUNY community colleges and our Region XV opponents but also nationally."

Middleton has built an impressive coaching résumé centered on developing student-athletes both on and off the court. Since 2015, he has served as the Founder and Program Director of Bronx Storm Sports Incorporated, a nonprofit youth basketball organization dedicated to developing young athletes through competitive local and travel basketball while emphasizing academic success and character development. Under his leadership, the organization has helped countless student-athletes advance to the high school, collegiate, and professional levels by fostering relationships with coaches and creating opportunities for continued growth.

In 2017, Middleton co-founded the NY Cup Foundation for Academic and Sports Excellence, where he serves as Director and Commissioner. The organization has become one of the premier all-girls basketball leagues in the region, organizing highly competitive divisions for middle school, high school, college, and professional players while promoting academic achievement alongside athletic excellence.

His coaching experience also includes a successful tenure at St. Theresa Sports Program, where he guided the girls varsity basketball team from 2010 through 2022. During his time there, Middleton led the program to CYO, borough, and state championships while helping oversee scheduling, tournament operations, and player development.

At the high school level, Middleton coached at Cardinal Spellman High School from 2019-2023, first as the Girls Junior Varsity Head Coach before serving as the Girls Varsity Assistant Coach. He also gained valuable collegiate coaching experience as an assistant coach for the women's basketball program at SUNY Westchester Community College from 2021-2024, where he assisted with recruiting, practice planning, game preparation, player development, and program operations.

Throughout his coaching career, Middleton has earned a reputation for building meaningful relationships with student-athletes and maintaining strong connections throughout the basketball community, creating recruiting pipelines and opportunities for players to continue their academic and athletic careers.

"Coach Middleton brings an energy, passion, and commitment to our women's basketball program we haven't had for a long time," Dodson said. "His love for basketball and the impact he will have on our student-athletes was evident from our first conversation."

Middleton is a graduate of Evander Childs High School and has pursued studies in business administration and sports management at C.W. Post at Long Island University, Borough of Manhattan Community College, and the College of Westchester.

As head coach, Middleton will oversee all aspects of the Bronx Community College women's basketball program, including recruiting, player development, practice planning, game strategy, and fostering academic success while preparing the Broncos to compete for CUNY and Region XV championships.

"I am extremely excited for the future of BCC Women's Basketball under Coach Middleton's guidance," Dodson added.

Middleton becomes the latest addition to the Bronx Community College athletic department's commitment to building championship-caliber programs while providing student-athletes with an outstanding collegiate experience both in competition and in the classroom.
