The Bronx Community College athletic department announced that Craig Williams is stepping down as head coach of the Bronx Broncos women's basketball program after two remarkable seasons that saw the program return to prominence and achieve historic success.

When Williams took over the program prior to the 2024-25 season, he inherited a team in need of rebuilding and immediately went to work laying the foundation for future success. In his first season at the helm, Williams guided the Broncos to appearances in both the CUNY Tournament Semifinals and the NJCAA Region XV Tournament, signaling the beginning of a new era for Bronx basketball. That foundation blossomed into an unforgettable 2025-26 campaign.

Through tireless work during the spring and summer months, Williams assembled a talented and determined group of student-athletes and elevated the program to new heights. His dedication paid dividends as the Broncos spent the entire season at or above the .500 mark and closed the calendar year of 2025 with an impressive 7-4 record through their first 11 contests.

The Broncos continued their surge in the new year, earning key victories over Kingsborough Community College twice, Division II Westchester Community College, and Monroe University-Bronx. Under Williams' leadership, Bronx developed into one of the premier programs in the region.

For his tremendous work both on and off the court, Williams was named the 2025-26 CUNY Coach of the Year, an honor that recognized his exceptional mentorship and commitment to the development of his student-athletes.

The past season became one for the history books.

Williams led the Broncos to their first CUNY Community College Championship since 2016, while guiding Bronx to the No. 2 seed in the NJCAA Region 15 Division III Tournament.  The Broncos also earned an at-large berth to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament, where they secured the program's first-ever national tournament victory with a thrilling 70-68 win over Rowan College of Gloucester County.

The accomplishments marked a stunning turnaround for a program that had become one of the most competitive teams in the country under Williams' direction.

Director of Athletics Dionne Dodson expressed her gratitude for Williams' contributions to the program.

"We are truly grateful for the hard work and energy Coach Williams put into revitalizing the women's basketball program," said Dodson. "He not only made us relevant but record-breaking and historic. We wish Coach Williams the best of luck in his future endeavors."

Although his tenure lasted only two seasons, Williams leaves behind a lasting legacy at Bronx Community College. Through his passion, leadership, and unwavering belief in his players, he restored pride to the Broncos program and helped create one of the most memorable chapters in school history.
