Dionne Dodson

Following an extensive national search, Bronx Community College selected Dionne Dodson as the institution's Director of Athletics in early August, 2023. Following the announcement of Dodson's appointment, Vice President for Student Success Dr. Irene R Delgado spoke glowingly of Dodson's resume and prowess.

"It is truly an exciting time for athletics here at Bronx Community College," Delgado said. "The hire of Dionne solidifies our institution's commitment to bringing seasoned, dynamic, and impactful leaders to the administration and athletics. We are fortunate to have someone of her caliber and whose career has been so successfully dedicated to student athletes and DEI issues in athletics."

Prior to securing the Director of Athletics post at BCC, Dodson spent nearly a decade and a half at Division I St. Francis (Brooklyn). There, she most recently served as the institution's Associate Director of Athletics for Business, Game Management, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Dodson specialized in game management for the Terriers, serving as the sport administrator for men's and women's volleyball, men's and women's water polo, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's cross country, and track and field. Overall, Dodson has spent over two decades building her career resume at the Division I level. Now at Bronx Community College, she aims to use her Division I experience to lead the Broncos' five programs.

"I am extremely excited to join Bronx Community College as the Athletic Director," Dodson said. "I would like to thank President Thomas Isekenegbe, Vice President Irene R. Delgado, Associate Dean Manny Lopez and the search committee for this fantastic opportunity. BCC Athletics provides student-athletes with opportunities to prepare, compete, succeed and achieve. The support across campus for the student athletes along with the family atmosphere of the community is something very special. That's why I believe the Broncos are on the road to incredible success both on the court and in the classroom."

Prior to being named an Assistant Director of Athletics, Dodson served as the Terrier's women's basketball Associate Head Coach. In Dodson's first season as Associate Head Coach, the Terriers put together a season for the ages. After a magical run to end the year, the Terriers captured the school's first ever championship in the Northeast Conference. The NEC title victory gave the Terriers an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, which was their first ever time playing in March Madness.

During Dodson's tenure as Associate Head Coach at St. Francis, five student-athletes were named to the Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team with three All Northeast Conference Team selections, and numerous Terriers were honored by being chosen to the NEC Academic Honor Roll and Commissioners' Honor Roll. With Dodson, St. Francis Brooklyn garnered their first Capital One All-Academic District 1 First Team selection. As a whole, the Terriers were named to the WBCA Top 25 Academic Honor Roll on multiple occasions, and won the top-25 WBCA Academic National Championship once.
