On Sunday afternoon, August 31, the Bronx Community College Department of Athletics announced the appointment of Khaila Stevenson as the new Head Women's Volleyball Coach. Following the announcement of the hiring, Director of Athletics Dionne Dodson spoke about Stevenson joining the BCC coaching ranks.

"We are extremely excited for Khaila to join us as Head Women's Volleyball Coach," Dodson said. "She exhibits tremendous energy and passion, and will bring a new spirit to revitalize our program. Khaila was a women's volleyball player at a two-year school, and can relate to the journeys of our student-athletes. I believe Khaila has the unique ability to communicate with our student-athletes to teach them to improve daily. She also not just focused on their athletic skills she wants to help them create lifelong habits and characteristics."

Stevenson joins Bronx Community College eager to showcase her coaching abilities for the first time at the intercollegiate level. Previously, she served as the Head Coach at Immaculate Heart Middle School (2021-2022). There, she was extremely organized, running a consistent operation. She developed and implemented training plans to enhance players' volleyball skills and game IQ. Additionally, she promoted values of physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Prior to her tenure at Immaculate Heart Middle School, Stevenson was the Head Coach at Mastery Thomas Charter High School, where she led the team to the 2019 Liberty Divisional title in the school's first year competing in that aforementioned division. Stevenson coordinated both the boys and girls volleyball program, showing a tremendous ability to handle many tasks across multiple programs.

Stevenson also served as an Assistant Coach at Synergy Volleyball Club from 2017-2019, and after playing for four seasons at the High School level, she competed as a member of the Monroe University Mustangs for one campaign.

Now at Bronx Community College, Stevenson is eager to have a positive impact on student-athletes at the intercollegiate level.

"I want to thank Director of Athletics Dionne Dodson and the tremendous administration at BCC for tabbing me as the new Head Women's Volleyball Coach," Stevenson said. "This is a great campus with fantastic student-athletes, and I look forward to enhancing this program and building something special here."

Stevenson earned an Associate's Degree in Baking & Pastry Arts from Monroe College (New Rochelle). She later got a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University in 2023, and an M.F.A. in Theatre from Brooklyn College earlier this year.
