Box Score 11/24/14 - Bronx, NY

The Men's Basketball team had their winning streak snapped at the hands of Lincoln College of New England on Saturday, falling 77-71.  The loss was the first of the year for the Broncos who began this year's season with a perfect 6-0 record.

The first half started off slow for both teams as they struggled to find an offensive rhythm.  Five minutes into the game the score was just 9-9.  But a 6-0 run by BCC got the scoring going and with 10 minutes past in the half, Brian Berrios hit a 3 pointer that put Bronx up 25-21.  That sparked a 9-0 run by the Broncos that brought the lead to 10 at 31-21.  A late run by Lincoln cut the lead to 3 but Bronx was able extend that to a 47-40 halftime lead.

The second half started off similar to the first with each team struggling to score.  Seven minutes into the half the lead was still at 7 in favor of the Broncos at 52-45.  With 8:17 left in the game, a BCC steal led to a layup by Jatton Pierce-Bias to put Bronx up by 10 points, 63-53.  But the Bronco offense then went cold, unable to convert for almost 5 minutes.  The Wildcats put up 11 unanswered points to take the lead at 64-63 with 3:54 until the final buzzer.  A moment later, Lincoln hit another 3-point goal to completely steal the momentum but from the Broncos. But the team wasn't about to give in as Yohan Almonte answered right back with a three ball that ignited the crowd.  The cheers were short lived though as the Wildcats kept up their attack and quickly answered back with their third 3-point goal in a row to extend their lead.  That bucket proved to be the dagger as Bronx was unable to make up the deficit from there.

Pierce-Bias led BCC with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 steals.  Brian Berrios hit for 15 points as the only other Bronco in double figures in scoring.  Milton McFarquhar chipped in with 11 rebounds and 6 points of his own.

With the loss the Men's Basketball team falls to 6-1 (3-0 within Region XV).  The team returns to action on Tuesday, November 25th at 7pm as they host the Lions of Nassau CC in the Alumni Gym
