Men's basketball closes out 2025-2026 campaign with CUNY Community College Conference loss to Panthers

The Bronx Community College men's basketball team finalized its 2025-2026 season on Thursday evening, falling to the Panthers of BMCC by a score of 90-67. With the defeat, the Broncos wrapped up the campaign at 0-24 (0-10 CUNY C.C.C.), while the Panthers improved to a record of 9-12 (5-5 in conference play).

Despite the loss for the Broncos, four players scored in double figures, including Said Martin, as the standout posted one final double-double, netting a team-high 18 points, while snatching a game-high 16 rebounds. Additionally, he finalized his evening with two steals.

Alexander Hattel posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. His five assists tied for the game-high, and his three steals were a game-high. Jacob Ortiz contributed 14 points, and Bryan Teixeira added 12 points, four assists, and three rebounds.

BMCC also had four players score in double figures on the night, as Brandon Duran drained eight triples, finishing with a total of 30 points.

He also snatched four rebounds and swiped a pair of steals. Additionally, Jayport Smith scored 21 points, snatched five rebounds, and dished four assists, and Noah Smith finalized his evening with 13 points, five assists, four rebounds, and two steals.

In a competitive first half, the Panthers led just 36-28 at the half, before outscoring the Broncos by a count of 54-39 in the final 20 minutes to account for the 23-point margin of victory.

BMCC earned a 47.3 percent conversion rate from the floor (35-74), and overall, and shot 46.7 percent from downtown (14-30). On the flip side, the Broncos connected on 25 out of 57 shot attempts (43.9 percent), and nailed just three trifectas (3-13, 23.1 percent).

The Panthers held a healthy 45-36 edge on the glass, while also dishing 18 assists compared to 14 for the Broncos. The hosts swiped 11 steals to Bronx's nine, and BMCC swatted four shots on the evening compared to the Broncos' two. The Panthers also won the turnover battle, committing 12 miscues, while Bronx finished with 19.
