Box Score The Broncos' women's volleyball team opened up its 2018 season with a huge victory, defeating Monroe-Bronx by a score of 3-2 (22-25, 25-19, 26-24, 14-25, 15-12) on Tuesday evening in a match that took place at the Alumni Gymnasium.
BCC showed tremendous heart in this match, not only battling back from a 1-0 set deficit, but also staging an impressive comeback in the third set. At one juncture in set number three, the Broncos trailed the Express by a score of 16-8. BCC would then score 18 of the final 26 points to take a 2-1 edge in sets. Monroe-Bronx easily captured the fourth set, but the Broncos claimed victory in the fifth to secure the win.
Leading the way for BCC in its opening night victory was
Sthefany Jimenez, as she turned in a terrific all-around performance with seven kills, eight digs, six service aces, and an assist. Setter
Heder Rodriguez added 31 assists, eight digs, and a pair of kills, and
Alondra Mesa recorded four service aces.
BCC will look to build on this victory on Saturday, as the Broncos will play a tri-match at BMCC. The Broncos will take on the Panthers in a CUNYAC contest at 11:00am, before facing Fashion Institute of Technology at 1:30pm.
