Women’s volleyball falls 3-0 to Tigers in CUNYAC Tournament

BAYSIDE, NY – No. 4 Bronx Community College fell 3-0 in the 2017 CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Semifinals to host and No. 1 seed Queensborough Community College Monday evening.
 
Sophomores Eriadna Rachell Vasquez Bautista and Yanibel Brito led Bronx with three kills each, the latter's coming on only nine attacks for a team-best .111 hitting percentage, but the Broncos hit a paltry -.231 as a team as the Tigers attacked at .246. 

A Sthefany Jimenez kill brought Bronx to within 10-7 in Game 1, but Queensborough's Paola Beniquez's ace opened up a 10-point lead at 19-9 as the Tigers cruised 25-13.

Game 2 was controlled by the hosts from start to finish, as Queensborough took an 11-2 lead and raced to a 25-4 victory.

A Brito ace and Vasquez Bautista kill sparked a 5-0 run that pulled the guests to within 11-7 early in Game 3, but the Tigers closed the set on a 14-6 run to win 25-13 and take the match 3-0. 

Sophomore Sergi Nuvani Ramirez Flores and Mayra Almonte tied for team-high honors with five digs each, while Vasquez Bautista added a solo block. Ramirez Flores also totaled two kills and a team-best four set assists. 

Bronx wraps up its 2017 campaign at 6-14.
