Box Score February 25, 2015 - Loch Sheldrake, NY

The Lady Broncos season came to an abrupt end last night with a tough loss to Sullivan County in the first round of the regional tournament. Early on in the game they held the Generals to a narrow lead but as the game went on, the deficit grew and the Broncos fell 64-35.

BCC kept within striking distance for the first ten minutes of play, at the 9:30 mark in the first half the Lady Generals held a slim 18-13 lead. With their 2nd leading scorer Trisha Toussaint sidelined with a leg injury, the Broncos were unable to figure out the tough press defense, allowing Sullivan to go on a 19-5 run to end the half up 37-18. Sullivan star player Nia Miller had a big impact on the game as she put up 16 points including a buzzer-beater three to close out the half. In the final minutes of play, the Lady Broncos finally broke through and went on a 17-10 run, but it was too little, too late.

Hivelize Escobar put up an impressive 22 points and added on 8 boards. Chloe Walton and Shakia Artist helped out on the glass, picking up 7 rebounds apiece.

Despite the loss, the Broncos reached many milestones this season. At the beginning of the season they set their sights on a .500 record and they accomplished just that by going 12-12 on the year. The Lady Broncos made a bold statement to the rest of the conference when they won the CUNYAC Championship in just the 3rd year of the program. The future of the program looks very bright under the leadership of Head Coach Pete Cepeda, who has improved the team's record in each of the past three seasons.

Bronx players achieved great success this season. For the 2nd year in a row, Escobar led the league in scoring and earned the CUNYAC Player of the Year. In her career at Bronx Community College, Hivelize scored over 1200 points, becoming the all-time leading scorer in Bronco history. She capped off the season with a strong performance in the CUNYAC playoffs and earned the tournament MVP. Trisha Toussaint had a stand out freshman campaign as she averaged 9.1 points per game to earn her first CUNYAC All-Star award. After a solid performance in the CUNYAC playoffs, freshman forward Angel Mbamalu was honored with an All-Tournament award.

Congratulations to the Lady Broncos for their numerous achievements this year!
