Box Score 1/16/2015 – Brooklyn, NY
The Broncos upped their winning streak to 3 games in a row as they defeated Kingsborough CC on the road last night, by the score of 86-81. The win was the second tight victory over the Wave this season as both games came down to the wire.
Bronx got off to a slow start, struggling to find a rhythm on offense. Tough defense by the Broncos held the Wave attack in check though and at the half, BCC had a two point cushion, 33-31.
Both teams found their shooting stroke in the second though as the scoring picked up from there. The teams exchanged the lead several times and with under two minutes to play, the Broncos found themselves down by 5 points. That is where Brian Berrios went to work. The freshman hit a step back 3-point jumper to cut into the Wave lead. Bronx was able to make several defensive stops in the waning moments and as Berrios and Co. sank their foul shots late to take the lead and pull away in regulation.
Brian Berrios led the Broncos with 30 points and 3 steals. Karon Williams had his second straight strong game with 15 points and 4 rebounds. Jatton Pierce-Bias hit for 14 points and 4 steals as Karius Morris had a strong night on the boards with 14 rebounds to go with 6 points.
With the win, the Broncos move to 12-5 on the season and they return to action on Saturday, January 17th as they travel to Poughkeepsie, NY to take on Dutchess CC at 2pm.
