Broncos Tame Tigers

1/10/2014 1:08:00 PM

Box Score 1/10/14 – Bronx, NY

Meeting for the first time since Bronx proved victorious in the 2013 CUNYAC Championships, BCC notched a regional win last night versus Queensborough CC, 105-85.  The Broncos' 105 total points was a season high for a team that put an end to their 3-game losing streak.

Kevin Vanderpool was the star of the game with 24 points, 7 assists, 6 steals and 4 rebounds.  Parris Purcelle , Bud McQueen and Stephen Wilson each had 13 points while Darrell Blackstock had 12 on a night where the Broncos had 7 players in double figures in scoring and rebounds coming from players up and down the lineup.

The Bronco offense was steady all night as they pushed a fast paced game.  However, QCC's resolve was apparent early as although Bronx led the way, they kept the team within striking distance for much of the first half.  The Bronco's attack remained relentless and by halftime, BCC had a 13 point lead at 54-41.

The second half proved to be similar as the first, as the Broncos consistently scored to keep QCC at bay.  The Tigers were able to cut the lead to 10 with about 6 minutes remaining, but a few key defensive stops and fast break points on turnovers allowed Bronx to cruise late to the 20 point win.

With the victory, the Broncos move to 11-4 overall and 6-4 within Region XV.  The team returns to action on Thursday, January 16 vs. Kingsborough CC at 7pm in the Alumni Gym.
