FLUSHING, N.Y. – The championship final is set for the 2021-22 CUNYAC/HSS Community College Women's Basketball Championship. On Friday, Feb. 18, top-seeded Hostos Community College will square off with second-seeded Bronx Community College on the campus of Borough of Manhattan Community College.
The final is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 18 at 6:00 p.m. Spectators
are not permitted to attend the championship event. This decision was made in accordance with BMCC Athletics COVID-19 guidelines to best allow our student-athletes and coaches to compete in a safe and healthy environment.
The nationally ranked Caimans enter the final 12-4 overall with a perfect record against CUNYAC opposition. Freshman guards
Starr Garcia and
Savannah Williams are averaging 11.9 points per game apiece for Hostos, while sophomore
Shaina Lewis is averaging a near double-double of 9.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per outing. The Caimans look to capture their fifth consecutive league championship.
Bronx is led by freshmen
Keyanna Drew and
Shawnasia Ofaire. Ofaire averages a double-double of 14.9 points and 11.8 rebounds per contest, while Drew is averaging 13.3 points per game.
Hostos won its two regular season meetings with Bronx by a combined score of 169-74. Friday's final will signal the league's first-ever championship meeting between the two teams.
