FLUSHING, N.Y. – The four-team field is set for the 2021-22 CUNYAC/HSS Community College Men's Basketball Championship. The tournament will be played on the campus of Borough of Manhattan Community College. CUNYAC will be live streaming the final, which will broadcast globally on Facebook Live.
 
Semifinal action gets underway on Wednesday, Feb. 16, with games slated for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The final is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 18 at 8:30 p.m. Spectators are not permitted to attend either championship date. This decision was made in accordance with BMCC Athletics COVID-19 guidelines to best allow our student-athletes and coaches to compete in a safe and healthy environment.
 
Hostos, the defending conference champions (2019-20), enter as the tournament's No. 1 seed, securing the regular season title for a third consecutive campaign. The Caimans finished the regular season 17-10 overall, posting an unblemished 8-0 record against league opposition.
 
The Caimans are winners of three of their last four games, featuring victories over BMCC, Union County and Rockland. Hostos is led by its freshmen backcourt of Marquise Paulin (13.8 ppg) and Onias Outlaw (12.6 ppg), who rank first and second on the team in points per game, respectively.
 
Queensborough is the No. 2 seed in the tournament, going 10-9 overall with a 6-2 record against league opponents. The Tigers enter the field winners of three of their last four contests, including victories over Kingsborough, BMCC and Bronx. Queensborough is led by three-time CUNYAC Player of the Week, Khari Ojeda-Harvey. The sophomore guard averages a conference-best 21.5 points per contest.
 
Bronx, the 2019-20 conference runner-up, is the No. 3 seed, posting a 6-15 record in the regular season with a 3-5 mark against CUNYAC foes. Freshman guard Malik Dale is the team's leading scorer at 18.8 points per contest. Forward Blaise Atanga is a top performer for the Broncos, adding 14.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per outing.
 
Kingsborough rounds out the field after earning a pair of conference victories during the regular season. The Wave is led by freshman forward Nicholas Vadi, who is averaging 12.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per outing.
 
Semifinal action begins with Queensborough and Bronx at 6 p.m. The Tigers won both regular season matchups against the Broncos, highlighted by a buzzer beater finish in the team's most recent meeting on Feb. 5.
 
The second contest features top-seeded Hostos and Kingsborough. The Caimans dominated both regular season contests, owning a +66-scoring margin.
