Women's basketball team suffers 72-34 defeat to Sullivan County Community College

Box Score The Bronx Community College Broncos women's basketball team suffered a non-conference loss on Thursday evening, falling to the Generals of Sullivan County Community College by a score of 72-34. The game took place at the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse in Lock Sheldrake, NY. With the loss, the Broncos fell to a record of 1-14 on the 2017-2018 campaign.

Despite the loss for Bronx Community College, the Broncos were paced by
Asia Nelson, as she scored 13 points, and recorded game-highs of 16 rebounds and four swatted shots. Nia Simmons scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds on the evening, and it was Eriadna Rachell Vasquez Bautista snatching 11 boards.
 
In the victory for Sullivan County Community College, four players scored in double figures, including Ardella Brown, as she posted game-highs of 17 points and eight assists, while also grabbing 11 rebounds and recording three steals. Kiera Parker connected on eight of her 10 attempts from the charity stripe and finished the evening with 14 points, five rebounds, four steals, and three assists, and Ashley Salkey and Samantha Bellinger scored 12 points apiece.

The Generals connected on 44.3 percent of their shots from the floor (27-61), while Bronx Community College converted on 27.7 percent of its shots (13-47). Turnovers turned out to be a huge factor in this game, with the Broncos committing 27 miscues compared to 14 for the Generals. Bronx Community College held a 41-36 edge in the rebounding department, and Sullivan County Community College recorded 14 assists compared to just two for the Broncos.

Bronx Community College will return to action on Tuesday evening, as the Broncos will take on the Borough of Manhattan Community College in a CUNYAC contest. The game will take place at the Alumni Gymnasium, and start-time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
