Despite dominating in the rebounding department, Broncos unable to solve Dutchess Community College as Falcons roll to 72-59 win

The Bronx Community College men's basketball team dropped its sixth consecutive game last night, falling to the Falcons of Dutchess Community College by a score of 72-59. The contest was played in Poughkeepsie, NY. With the loss, the Broncos dipped to a record of 6-15 on the 2017-2018 campaign.

The two teams had met earlier in the season, with the Broncos recording an 83-72 victory at the Alumni Gymnasium back on December 12, 2017.

Despite the loss for Bronx Community College, it was
Herve Awono leading the way for the Broncos, as he tied for the game high in points with 20 while snatching 10 rebounds in 36 minutes of action. Rafael Ruanconnected on nine of his 16 attempts from the floor to finish with 18 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and three steals, and Jeremy Heron grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and tied for the game-high in assists with four. He also added four assists and tallied two steals.

In the victory for Dutchess Community College, Joe Langan and Alfredo Robles scored 20 points apiece. Langan connected on four three-point baskets while also grabbing seven rebounds and tallying four steals. Robles posted a game-high seven steals and a team-high nine rebounds, and it was Ronald Rowe contributing 14 points, four assists, and three steals.

The teams were completely identical in terms of shooting the basketball, as they both converted on 35.2 percent of their attempts from the field for the evening (25-71). Bronx Community College misfired on 10 free throw opportunities (8-18, 44.4 percent), and Dutchess Community College missed six (15-21, 71.4 percent). Bronx Community College dominated on the glass, as the Broncos earned a 54-34 edge in the rebounding department, and it was the Falcons committing 15 turnovers while forcing 23 Broncos mistakes.

The Broncos will return to action on Thursday, as Bronx Community College will travel to Loch Sheldrake, NY to take on Sullivan County Community College. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 7:00pm.
