Box Score
December 5, 2017 - Suffern, NY

The Bronx Community College Broncos Men's basketball team traveled to Suffern, NY on a rainy Tuesday evening to take on the Hawks of Rockland Community College.

Carrying the weight of a six game losing streak, a win was desperately needed by the Broncos.

The tempo was high as both teams traded baskets keeping this regional game closely matched throughout the first half.  Rookie guards Terrell Wigfall and Andre Carthorn contributed the bulk of the first half buckets but it was a well rounded Broncos effort to pull slightly ahead of the Hawks.

With time running out in the first half, guard Terrell Wigfall scored a three pointer to give the Broncos a little added space, but this lead wasn't to last for long.  Rockland pushed back to come with-in one point of the Broncos when the Hawks scored a three point goal of their own giving them a 32 to 30 point lead over Bronx to end the half.

The Broncos maintained their focus as the second half commenced. With time ticking from the clock, the back and forth continued.  With eleven second half points each, the duo of Wigfall and Carthorn kept the Broncos in the game.  But Rockland wasn't going away and the Broncos knew it, this one would be determined in the final seconds of the this game.

With the score at 64 to 67 and the clock at 28.4 the Bronx team held a three point lead over the Hawks.  As the seconds clicked off the clock, Rockland scored a clutch three pointer to tie the game at 67 all.

As Broncos forward Mark West stood ready to inbound the ball from the Hawks baseline, the Bronx had one last opportunity to win the game or go into overtime.  The referee's whistle blows and West finds Carthorn open and passes him the ball.  Carthorn dribbles past the half court line and closes in on the free-throw line attacking the basket for what he knows could be the game winning basket.  With 3.8 seconds left on the clock, Carthorn lays it up for the game winning bucket.  The losing streak has been broken.

Andre Carthorn and Terrell Wigfall both finished the game with 20 points each,  Contributing Broncos: Pape Diop, 3 points, Mark West, 8 points, Oluwatosin Onabanjo, 4 points, Jonathan Perrin, 6 points and Hector Montano Valenzuela 8 points.

The Broncos record is now 4 wins 6 losses.  The next match up for the Bronx will be the visiting Generals of Sullivan County Community College on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 7 pm at Alumni Gym of Bronx Community College.
