Men's Basketball Wins Season Opener

In the season opener for the Bronx Community College men's basketball team, the Broncos (1-0) played at Bergen Community College Bulldogs (0-1) for a 79-70 win in Paramus, New Jersey.

  


The Broncos team play effort on offense during the 1st half was systematic and consistent.  Each players was doing their responsibilities and there was ball movement to find the open man.  The team scored 45 points.

During the 2nd half, the Broncos showed a lack of concentration on the task at hand by playing average on offense and defense.   The players movement was rushed and hurried leading to an increase in turnovers.   Critical defensive stops helped the team maintained the lead in the score until the end of the game.


Playing well for the Bronx squad were Terrell Wigfall (33 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals), Hector Montano Valenzuela (21 points, 11 rebounds),  Andre Carthorn(9 points, 5 assists, 7-8 free throws) and Mark West (8 points, 6 rebounds).  Jonathan Perrin had 3 block shots on defense.

The initial home game of the season will be on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 8:00 PM in Alumni Gymnasium hosting Monroe College - Bronx Express.
