Box Score February 9, 2015 - Selden, NY
First half struggles spelled disaster for the women's basketball team when they travelled to Suffolk County Community College over the weekend. The Broncos battled back in the second half, but the deficit proved too much to overcome as they fell to the Sharks 61-37.
BCC simply could not get the offense started, scoring just 9 points before the halftime whistle. After struggling early, the team showed mental toughness by not letting the game get further out of hand as they went on to match the Sharks scoring output for the second half.
Shakia Artist made the most of her limited attempts as she drained every shot, coming away with 6 points. Her defensive showing was equally impressive as she matched her season high in blocks with 8.
Hivelize Escobar once again led the team in scoring, putting up 17 points while helping out on defense with 3 steals and 2 blocks.
Despite the loss against Suffolk, BCC remains in third place in the CUNY Athletic Conference with a 6-3 record (9-10 overall). The team closes out their conference schedule with their final home game this Tuesday night. Before the start of the game we will be honoring all 2
nd year players. So come out to Alumni Gymnasium to watch your Lady Broncos square off against the Hostos Caimans in the Battle for the Bronx, tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
