Box Score February 3, 2015 – Bronx, NY
After taking Sullivan CC to the brink of defeat on Thursday, the Lady Broncos fell short once again versus Suffolk CC on Saturday, by the score of 63-51. The loss was the 3rd in a row for the team, who falls below .500 for the first time this season.
In the first half, Bronx played relatively well against the perennially tough Shark team. The BCC attack made for many shooting opportunities against Suffolk early. However, many of those shots were off the mark as the Lady Broncos shot just 30 percent from the field early. They trailed Suffolk by just three at halftime, 29-26.
In the second half, the team fell behind by as many as 14 points, but continued to battle back to get within a few points several times during the period. In the end, the Lady Broncos were unable to climb back fully and the Sharks pulled away late to win by 9.
Hivelize Escobar had 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 steals in the losing effort. Trisha Toussaint chipped in with 14 points and 6 rebounds as well.
With the loss, the team falls to 8-9 on the season. They return to action on Tuesday, February 03 at 5pm as they travel to BMCC to take on the Lady Panthers in a CUNYAC matchup.
