The CUNYAC playoffs kicked off last night with the Bronx Broncos taking on the Red Hawks of LaGuardia. After being down early, the Broncos battled back and endured constant lead changes until they pulled ahead in the final minutes to win 72-64.

LaGuardia went ahead early after going on a 29-11 run behind a barrage of threes from guard Kareem Brown. Despite being down 18, Broncos continued to fight back, drawing within 9 on a Karius Morris fast break score with 3 minutes remaining in the first half. With a buzzer-beating three from Brian Berrios, LaGuardia's lead had shrunk to just 2 points and momentum was favoring BCC as they headed into the locker room.

The second half was a whole new ballgame, with several lead changes both teams fought for control for most of the second half. Berrios came out of the locker room on fire, draining 4 pull-up threes to electrify the crowd. At the 2:20 mark the Broncos took the lead and never looked back. They would go on to trade threes before Berrios drained both of his free throws, putting his team to up 68-64. In the final minute and a half the defense stood strong, not allowing a single point. All they needed in the final minute were a few made free throws to close out the Red Hawks.

Jatton Pierce-Bias was named Player of the Game after finishing with a tremendous 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists. When asked what finally clicked that allowed the momentum to change in the first half, Jatton responded, "We started believing in our shots and not getting down on ourselves that we were missing."

With this win the Broncos advance to the CUNYAC Championship Final for the fifth consecutive year. They have a tough task ahead of them as they take on BMCC, the 4^th ranked team in the nation, the Broncos will be looking for revenge after suffering narrow defeats in both previous matchups this season.
