Box Score February 12, 2015 – Bronx, NY

The Bronx Community College Women's Basketball team defeated Hostos Tuesday 60-53. The game marked the final CUNYAC matchup of the regular season as well the final home game for the Lady Broncos. 2^nd year players, Hivelize Escobar, Frances Minaya, Dominique Edwards and Natasha Arzuaga were honored prior to the game for their contributions to the team.

BCC started the game with excellent defense holding the Lady Caimans to only 5 points through the first 10 minutes of play. They would continue their strong defensive play as they entered the break with a 27-17 advantage.

The Lady Broncos would heat up early in the 2^nd half as they opened up a 49-23 lead on Hostos. The Caimans would not go away easily as they slowly chipped away at the lead. In the closing seconds, Hostos would pull within 7, but BCC would not let them get any closer as the game would finish 60-53.

Many players put up strong numbers to finish out the home schedule. The Lady Broncos were lead in scoring by reigning CUNYAC Women's Player of the Week Hivelize Escobar who registered 22 points. Fellow starters Angel Mbamalu and Shakia Artist also had excellent games scoring 20 and 11 points as well as grabbing 20 and 15 rebounds respectively. Sharonda Payne also had a strong rebounding night registering 13 of the 70 team boards. 2^nd year guard Frances Minaya added 9 points off the bench.

With the win, BCC goes to 10-10 overall and 7-3 in the CUNY. The Lady Broncos will play their final game Saturday as they travel to Garden City to play Nassau. Tip-off is schedule for 1pm.
