Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bronx NY – 3.24.14

The Bronx Community College Baseball team dropped both games of a double header on Saturday against Union County Community College in Cranford, NJ.

BCC came up short in Game 1, losing 6-5. Freshman Ruben Gomez started the game for the Bronx, pitching 4 innings and surrendering 3 earned runs. At the plate, Second basemen Claudio Deaza went 2-4 with two doubles. Third basemen Daniel Rojas and Catcher Jose Marte each went 2-4 respectively as well, with an RBI each. First basemen Victor Leroux went 1-3 with 2 RBIs.

Despite a great showing offensively, the Broncos dropped Game 2 by the score of 16-12. BCC received contributions at the plate from multiple players and got off to a fast start to begin the game. Left Fielder and leadoff hitter Jonathan Suarez reached based four times, recording three hits and also scoring three runs. First baseman Victor Leroux drove in the first two runs of the game with a double in the 1st inning. Center fielder Frauly Paulino recorded a bases loaded double in the 1st inning as well, which scored all three runners. Right fielder Justin Soto went 3-4 on the day with a 2 RBI double in the 5th. 12 runs was not enough however, as shaky defense proved to be the Broncos nemesis. BCC committed 6 errors in Game 2 which was too much to overcome.

Bronx is scheduled to take the field again Tuesday, March 25th, as they host Suffolk County Community College. The game will mark the beginning of Region XV play for the Broncos. First pitch is scheduled for 4pm, and will be held at Ohio Field.
