Box Score 12/12/14 – Loch Sheldrake, NY
The Broncos gave the Generals all they could handle on Thursday as they traveled to Sullivan CC to take on the team ranked #3 in the nation. A strong start and tough play by BCC saw the team fight right until the final buzzer, but in the end, the Broncos were edged 85-80.
Bronx opened up the first half by taking an 8-2 lead behind the strong perimeter shooting of
Brian Berrios, who had perhaps his best game of the season. Being down early did not phase Sullivan however, as they were patient and seemed to stick to their game plan. BCC led for much of the first half, but at the break, the Generals were able to open up a slim 42-38 lead.
The game stayed within a few points for much of the second half, but with about 10 minutes to go, SUNY Sullivan put together five straight scoring possessions while their defense was able to get stops and the Broncos trailed by as many as 14 points. Bronx stayed on the attack though and chipped away at the Generals' lead by continuing to drive to the basket.
Berrios brought the team to within two points with 3:46 to go with a transition layup and the teams exchanged baskets from there. Bronx cut the score to 75-73 with 1:29 to go in regulation as Berrios was able to hit two free throws after a shooting foul called on Sullivan. That was as close as the Broncos would get though, as time ticked away and the team was unable to find an equalizing shot.
Berrios had 29 points and 4 assists on the game.
Jatton Pierce-Bias hit for 15 points and 5 rebounds as
Lamont Newsome chipped in with 12 points.
Karius Morris again worked hard on the glass, pulling down 12 rebounds.
With the loss, the Broncos fall to 9-4 and they return home on Saturday, December 13
th as they take on the #8 ranked Panthers of Borough of Manhattan CC for a 3pm tip-off. Remember students, you can win the Tickets for Tech giveaway by attending either women's or men's game and bringing your BCC ID to receive your raffle ticket and chance to win a FREE TABLET.
