Box Score 12/10/14 – Bronx, NY
The Broncos added a game to the win column as they defeated the Rockland CC Hawks, 71-60 in a regional matchup. The game, originally slated to take place at Rockland, was moved to the Alumni Gym due to the weather.
Bronx got off to a great start as they ran out to a 20-4 in the first four minutes of play. But the offense then went ice cold as BCC only scored 3 points during the next 10 minutes. The Hawks then went on a 12-2 run and chipped away at the lead from there. With 5:20 left in the half a Rockland 3-pointer closed the score to 23-21. Two made free throws on the next possession made it a new game and then RCC took the lead with a put back layup. The Broncos were able to regain some scoring as they took back the lead and went into the locker room at the break with a slim 30-28 point lead.
BCC started the second much like the first as they posted a 14-2 run to give the team some breathing room once again. The Broncos led by as many as 16 in the second half, but with 3 minutes left, Rockand was able to cut the lead to single digits at 9, trailing 63-54. As time wound down, Bronx was able to put off any comeback bid and pulled away for the victory.
The team was led by Yohan Almote who had 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
Brian Berrios put up 16 points, 4 assists and 2 steals.
Karius Morris had another solid game working for 20 rebounds while chipping in with 12 points.
With the win, the Broncos up their record to 9-3 overall. They return to action on Thursday, December 11
th as they travel to Loch Sheldrake, NY to take on the #3 ranked team in the country, Sullivan CC for an 8pm start.
