Box Score 1/15/14 – Bronx, NY

The BCC Lady Broncos were victorious over Westchester CC last night in the Alumni Gym, beating the Lady Vikings by the score of 77-67.  The win evens Bronx's Regional record to 5-5 and they move to 5-6 overall for the season.

Hivelize Escobar led the team with 33 points and 15 rebounds.  Tylaisha Davis added 16 points of her own, while Dorae Murray just missed a triple-double with 11 points, 12 assists and 8 rebounds. 

The two teams started out evenly matched but WCC was able to quickly open up a 9 point lead early in the first half.  The Lady Broncos battled back as they cut the lead to 5 as the half drew to a close.  Right before the buzzer, BCC's tough defense led to turnovers on back to back Westchester possessions that led to two easy buckets.  Bronx found themselves down by just one point headed in to the break at 30-29. 

Coming out of the locker room, BCC quickly fell behind by 5 points once again within the first 90 seconds of the half.  But with 13:40 left to play in the period, the Lady Broncos scoring attack was able to take the lead 41-40.  The score remained close the rest of the way and at the 4:23 mark the game was tied at 63.  Westchester then got into some late foul trouble, but fought hard to keep the game close.  Bronx was able to exchange baskets with WCC and led by 2 with just over a minute left in the game.   From there, BCC was able to score a flurry of points to pull away late en route to the win. 

The Lady Broncos return to action on Thursday, January 16^th at 5pm as they play host to Kingsborough CC in a CUNYAC matchup.
