NJCAA Region XV and the CUNY Community College Conference announced their All-Star teams for baseball earlier this week, and the Bronx Broncos were all represented. Frailin Jimenez, Robert Genao, Luis Torres, and William Whitcomb were named NJCAA region XV All-Stars, with Gabriel Perdomo earning a Sportsmanship team. Jimenez, Genao, Torres, and Whitcomb were also named CUNY All-Stars, with Jimenez getting voted the Pitcher of the Year, and Dario Vazquez getting selected to the Sportsmanship team.
Jimenez established himself as the unquestioned ace of the pitching staff during this 2025 campaign. His incredible season saw him compile an 9-3 record with a sensational 2.10 ERA. His 114 strikeouts led the country, and he allowed just five extra base hits in 68.2 innings pitched. Last week, the tall right hander put forth a brilliant start in leading the Broncos to their first CUNY title since 2019, hurling a complete game (seven innings), allowing just one run on five hits while walking three batters, hitting one, and striking out 12. Incredibly, Jimenez faced just four batters passed the minimum, exhibiting a dominant flow throughout. His tremendous pitching contributions, as well as his team-first mentality, have made him an ideal student-athlete during his Broncos tenure.
Genao was the lone Bronco to bat .400 on the season, and he also led Bronx in multiple other categories, including total bases (82), runs scored (56), hits (52), stolen bases (43), RBI's (38), homeruns (four), triples (four), walks (35), and slugging percentage (.631). He was the pace-setter for the Broncos' offense, and always found himself in the middle of offensive rallies.
Torres had himself a phenomenal first season with the Broncos, recording a batting average of .341 while collecting the second-most hits on the team (47) and tying for the fourth-most RBI's (30). His 57 total bases were second only to Genao's 82, and he also stole 17 bases on the year, a total that placed him fifth on the squad.
Whitcomb spent just one season as a member of the program, but he established himself as an on-base machine. Boasting an on-base percentage of .444, he led the Broncos in doubles with 12, and his 36 RBI's were good for second-best on the squad. A .325 hitter, he amassed 51 total bases and 37 hits this season, and was one of the team's key contributors in the middle of the order.
The sportsmanship honorees – Perdomo and Vazquez – handled themselves with grace and class throughout the 2025 campaign, always staying prepared to contribute at any given time. They established themselves as great teammates, and always showed respect to the coaches, administrators, and the opposition.
