The Broncos' women's volleyball team dropped a pair of CUNYAC matches on Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn, NY, falling to the Wave of Kingsborough in straight sets (14-25, 15-25, 11-25) before falling to Queensborough in minimum sets (14-25, 19-25, 17-25). With the defeats, Bronx completed its regular season portion of the schedule with a mark of 8-16 (2-6 in conference action). Kingsborough is now 7-12 (4-4 CUNYAC), and the Tigers improved to 21-1 (8-0 CUNYAC).
In Bronx' defeat to the Wave, the Broncos were led by
Angelica Aquino, as she recorded five kills and 12 digs. Setter
Heder Rodriguez also added 10 assists and four digs, and
Genesis Jimenez contributed on the defensive end with 10 digs.
Despite the Broncos' defeat at the hands of the Tigers, Bronx was led by Aquino, as she had four kills for the match. Rodriguez added seven assists, as well.
Bronx will return to action this Monday, as the Broncos will enter the 2018 CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Tournament as the No. 4 seed. Bronx will face the No. 1 seeded Tigers of Queensborough at 4:00pm, with the winner advancing to the championship match later that evening. Â
