Despite valiant effort, Bronx drops CUNYAC Tournament semifinal round match to Queensborough in minimum sets on Monday evening

The Broncos' women's volleyball team saw their quest for a CUNYAC title come to an end on Monday evening, as No. 4 seeded Bronx fell to the No. 1 seeded Tigers of Queensborough by scores of 10-25, 13-25, and 12-25 in the semifinals of the 2018 CUNYAC Community College Women's Volleyball Tournament. With the loss, the Broncos dropped to 8-17 on the year.

Queensborough improved to 22-1 with the victory, and would eventually get to 23-1 by defeating BMCC in straight sets later in the evening to claim the conference championship.

Despite Bronx' loss to the Tigers, the Broncos were paced by Angelica Aquino, as she contributed three kills and nine digs. Heder Rodriguez contributed seven assists and eight digs, and Lisbeth Guerrero pitched in with three kills.

In the win for the Tigers, Queensborough was paced by Paola Beniquez, as she hit .500 for the match with a match-high eight kills against just two errors. Ashley Saladin added six kills, and setter Maria Veliz Thol contributed a match-high 20 assists.

As a team, Queensborough recorded 16 service aces and hit .314 for the match, committing just nine errors in the three sets.
