The Broncos' women's volleyball team won for the sixth time in its last eight tries, tonight defeating the Caimans of Hostos Community College in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-21, and 25-21 in a CUNYAC clash that took place at Hostos. With the victory, Bronx is now 8-14 on the 2018 campaign (2-4 CUNYAC), while the Caimins slipped to 0-17 (0-6 CUNYAC). The CUNYAC battle served as a rematch of a contest that took place just two evenings prior at the Alumni Gym, in which the Broncos won a five set classic.
In the victory for Bronx, the Broncos were paced by
Angelica Aquino, as she recorded six kills while hitting .286 on the evening. She also added 12 digs and five service aces, as well.
Lisbeth Guerrero contributed three kills as well, and setter
Heder Rodriguez added 11 assists.
The Broncos will close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon, as Bronx will travel to Brooklyn, NY to battle CUNYAC foes Kingsborough (12:00pm) and Queensborough (1:15). The two matches will serve as the Broncos' tune-up for Monday evening's CUNYAC championship tournament, where Bronx' semifinal round opponent is still to-be-determined.
