The Broncos' women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Monroe College-Bronx in four sets (25-12, 25-14, 20-25, 25-19) before falling to the Falcons of Dutchess in straight sets (19-25, 21-25, 9-25). With today's output, Bronx now owns a record of 6-14 on the 2018 campaign.
In Bronx' victory over the Express,
Angelica Aquino led the way for the Broncos, tying for the match-high in kills with nine. She also tied for the match-high in digs with 11, and led all players in service aces with seven.
Heder Rodriguez recording a team-high 15 assists to go along with three service aces to go along with four digs.
For Monroe-Bronx, Dawn Franklin tied for the match-high in kills with nine, while also adding four service aces. Julie Trowers added seven kills to go along with three block solos. Rachel Arias added a match-high 21 assists.
In the Broncos' defeat at the hands of the Falcons, Aquino notched five kills and four digs, and
Lisbeth Guerrero contributed five kills and a pair of digs. Rodriguez recorded 10 assists in the defeat.
Bronx will return to action Tuesday evening, as the Broncos will take on Hostos Community College in a CUNYAC match. Match-time is set for 7:00pm, and it will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night at the Alumni Gym.
