Box Score 2 9/15/14 - Bronx, NY
The BCC Men's Soccer Team traveled to Franklin, MA this weekend to compete in the Bulldog Invitational at Dean College. The tournament was the first that Bronx has participated in recent memory and was a great early season test against competition of various levels. The tournament served to have the team play up to a higher level of competition in preparation for tough CUNYAC and regional matchups.
On Saturday the Broncos were matched up against Bunker Hill CC who stood ranked as #5 in the nation for the pre-season DIII Men's Soccer Poll. Bronx opened the scoring when
Mario Folkes was able to dribble through the defense and bang home a goal to make it 1-0. BCC continued to play hard until a series of defensive breakdowns led to 3 easy goals and a 5-1 halftime deficit. The second half was much better but in the end the Broncos couldn't find the back of the net and fell 7-1.
On Sunday, BCC was matched up with ASA, a Division I team from Region XV. Bronx played much better and though the Avengers play in a higher division, the Broncos were able to hang tough against them. They held ASA to 3 goals on the match but had limited scoring chances themselves. The star of the game for Bronx was
Romeo Kelly, who logged 15 saves.
On the weekend the Broncos went 0-2 which drops their record to 1-2 on the season. They return to regional action on Tuesday, September 16
th at 4pm as take on rival Queensborough CC at 4pm on Ohio Field.
