Box Score Marlboro, NY - 10/26/13

With a win over the #4 seeded Dutchess Falcons, the #5 seeded Bronx Community College Men's Soccer team advances to the semi-final round of the NJCAA Region XV Tournament. The Broncos got off to a fast start with two quick goals from striker Oshae Miller within the first 15 minutes of play. WIth his two goals, Miller leads the team with 10 on the season.

After Dutchess closed the gap to 2-1 with a well placed goal, the teams looked poised the complete the first half the same way they did in their regular season matchup, with the Broncos leading by one goal. However, a handball pentalty committed by Bronx gave the Falcons a penalty kick with less than 30 seconds left to play in the half. But Goalkeeper Alejandro Rico, who has had a knack for dramatic saves down the stretch, turned away a difficult shot to preserve the lead. The spectacular save came at a price though, as Rico was injured on the play, and could not continue.

Amos Addy filled in nicely in the second half, and the Broncos played tough defense in front of the backup keeper. El Sadate Idrissou gave the Broncos some breathing room by adding a goal in the second period, making the score 3-1. Victory wouldn't come easy though as Dutchess scored to make it 3-2. Their attack kept coming, but in the end it was BCC on top when the final whistle blew.

The Broncos move on to play the #1 seeded Suffolk CC Sharks at 2pm on Wednesday, October 30th. With Sharks being the higher seed, the game will be held on Suffolk's Seldon Campus. For an up-to-date copy of the tournament bracket, click here.
