Broncos fall to Wave 3-0 in CUNY action as Kingsborough pulls away in latter stages

The Broncos' men's soccer team put forth a valiant effort on Thursday afternoon but ultimately came up short, falling to the Wave of Kingsborough Community College by a score of 3-0 in CUNY action. With the loss, Bronx dipped to 0-2 on the 2025 campaign (0-2 CUNY), while the Wave improved to 4-1 (3-0 CUNY).

Kingsborough notched the only goal by either team in the 10th minute when Akin Small collected a pass from Jevaughn Lamont before burying the ball into the net to put the Wave ahead 1-0. The teams combined for 20 shots in the opening 45 minutes of action, but Small's tally was the only goal scored as the Wave took a 1-0 advantage into the break.

The Wave dominated the second half offensively, outshooting the Broncos by a count of 17-2. Kingsborough scored an insurance goal at 72:37 when Omario Walters gather Moise Simeon's pass before slipping the ball home to give the Wave a 2-0 lead. Klesti Murataj capped the scoring at 81:20, when he rebounded his own penalty shot and slashed a ball home to make it 3-0 Kingsborough.

For the match, Kingsborough held a commanding 30-9 edge in shots. Each team earned five corner kicks.

Isaac Amantecatl earned the shutout in the net for the visitors, as he made two saves. Anthony Balbuena put forth a solid effort between the pipes despite taking the loss, making nine saves while allowing the three goals.

Bronx will look to earn its first victory this Saturday, as the team takes to the road to battle Rockland Community College. Start-time is scheduled for 1:00pm.
