Women's basketball splits pair, dominating Caimans, 77-44, before falling to Raiders, 62-39

The Broncos' women's basketball team split a pair of games in recent days, defeating to the Caimans of Hostos Community College by a score of 77-44 in CUNY action (11/6), and suffering a 62-39 setback to the Raiders of Fulton Montgomery (11/8). With those results, Bronx is now 2-1 (2-0 CUNY) on the 2025-2026 campaign.

Bronx Broncos 77, Hostos Caimans 44

In Bronx's dominant victory over the Caimans, Destiny Davis and Amber Alexander tied for the team-high of 12 points. Additionally, Destiny Dickerson and Akira Robertson netted nine points apiece, and Ashley Hirado added eight. Robertson's five assists were a team-high, and Kolonnie Green put forth a tremendous all-around performance, scoring seven points, snatching a team-high 12 rebounds, registering four assists, swatting a game-high three shots, and adding two steals.

Despite the loss for Hostos, Makayla Lima posted a double-double, registering game-highs of 18 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists. Maya Morrison netted 10 points, snatched five rebounds, and added two assists while tallying two steals, and Mykhayla Hutchinson finished with seven points and eight boards.

Bronx led 25-11 after the first quarter, and held a respectable 32-25 advantage at intermission. The Broncos blew the game wide open in the third quarter with a tremendous balance of offense and suffocating defense, outscoring the Caimans 24-4 to take a 56-29 edge after three. Bronx scored 21 points in the fourth to Hostos' 15 to account for the 33-point triumph (77-44).

The Broncos shot 55 percent from the floor (33-60), including a conversion rate of 75 percent on shots from downtown (9-12). Conversely, Hostos hit on just 30.9 percent of its attempts from the field (17-55), including six of 15 from beyond-the-arc (40 percent). Bronx held an 11-5 edge in steals, while also holding a 24-13 advantage in assists. The Caimans held a slim 40-33 edge on the glass, and Hostos won the turnover battle, committing 21 miscues to Bronx's 24.

Fulton-Montgomery Raiders 62, Bronx Broncos 39  

Davis led the way for the Broncos in their loss to the Raiders, as she scored a team-high 11 points to go along with four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Akira Robertson finished her afternoon with nine points and three steals, and Green scored seven points, snatched a game-high 12 rebounds, and swiped a team-high five steals.

Hailey Monroe led the way for Fulton-Montgomery, as she connected on five triples to finish with a game-high 22 points, a team-high 10 rebounds, and game-highs of eight assists and seven steals. Kieonna Christmas scored 15 points while collecting eight rebounds, dishing four assists, and swatting two shots. Finally, it was Cloey Dopp netting nine points and grabbing three rebounds, dishing three assists, and three steals.

The Raiders led 16-10 with 6:23 remaining in the second quarter, and from there, Fulton-Montgomery owned the remainder of the half. The Raiders outscored the hosts 14-9 the remainder of the session to take a 30-19 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Fulton-Montgomery led 51-27 with 8:16 to go, Bronx refused to quit. The Broncos put forth a 10-1 run over the ensuing 4:22 to inch to within 15 down (52-37) with 3:54 to go. That aforementioned run was highlighted by Akira Robertson's five points. The Raiders closed the game out strongly from there, netting 10 of the final 12 points of the game to account for the 23-point victory.

The visitors shot 34.8 percent from the field for the afternoon (24-69), while the Broncos converted on just 13 of 53 shots from the floor (24.5 percent). The Raiders held advantage in the rebounds (50-41), assists (17-9), and steals (17-14) columns, while the Bronx held a 6-2 edge in swatted shots. Fulton-Montgomery won the turnover battle, committing 23 miscues while the Broncos had 28.

The Broncos will return to action on Thursday evening, as Bronx will travel to Brooklyn, NY to take on the Wave of Kingsborough in a CUNY game. Start-time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
