Men's basketball drops pair of road contests to Caimans, Generals in recent days

The Broncos' men's basketball team dropped a pair of games in recent days, falling to the Caimans of Hostos Community College by a score of 80-67 in CUNY action (11/6), and suffering a 94-70 setback to the Generals of SUNY Sullivan (11/8). With those results, Bronx is now 0-3 (0-2 CUNY) on the 2025-2026 campaign.

Hostos Caimans 80, Bronx Broncos 67  

Despite the loss for the Broncos, Dai'zon Kearse and Aden Lugo tied for the team-high in points, scoring nine points apiece. Kearse also added a team-high four assists to go along with three rebounds, and Lugo's eight rebounds led Bronx. Newcomers Alan Pimentel and Justin Thomas netted eight points apiece, with both of them knocking down two three-pointers each. Jacob Ortiz finished with seven points, and Ismael Martinez netted six points.

For Hostos, Harry Bonilla knocked down five trifectas, finishing with game-highs of 24 points and seven steals. He also added five rebounds and five assists in a very versatile effort. Trayvon McGraw and Terrell Hood added five points apiece, with McGraw adding seven rebounds and a game-high six assists, and Hood collecting four rebounds, swiping three steals, and adding a pair of dimes. Finally, it was Omar Drammeh posting a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Caimans held a slim 31-24 lead at intermission, and gradually grew that advantage during the second half, netting 49 points to the Broncos' 43 to account for the 13-point win (80-67).

Bronx lost the game despite shooting a higher shooting percentage on the evening, connecting on 24 of its 62 attempts from the floor (24-62) while Hostos earned just a 33.3 percent conversion rate (26-78). The Caimans held a commanding 56-34 edge on the glass, while also registering 18 assists to the Broncos' 10. Both teams swiped 13 steals, and the hosts narrowly won the turnover battle, committing 28 miscues to Bronx's 31.

SUNY Sullivan Generals 94, Bronx Broncos 70  

In the Broncos' loss to the Generals, Alexander Hattel registered the Broncos' first double-digit performance of the season, as he scored 17 points to go along with five rebounds and three steals. Kearse, Thomas, and Tyler Flagg netted eight points apiece, with Kearse adding five rebounds and four steals, and Flagg pulling down four boards.

As a team, Bronx converted on 41.4 percent of their shots from the floor (24-58) and 64 percent of their freebees (16-25). The Broncos collected 35 rebounds, tallied 15 steals, dished seven assists, and turned the ball over 41 times.

Next Up for the Broncos

The Broncos will return to action on Tuesday evening, as Bronx will welcome the Lions of Nassau to the Alumni Gymnasium. Start-time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
