Broncos produce only 50 points in NJCAA Region 15 loss to Nassau at Alumni Gymnasium

The Broncos' men's basketball team continues to search for its first victory of the 2025-2026 campaign, as last night Bronx was defeated by NJCAA Region 15 foe Nassau, falling to the Lions by a score of 96-50. The clash took place at the Alumni Gymnasium in the Bronx. With the defeat, the Broncos dipped to a mark of 0-4 on the season, while Nassau improved to 1-4.

Aden Lugo scored in double figures for the Broncos, connecting on five of his six shot attempts to finish with 12 points. He also snatched five rebounds, as well. Justin Thomas netted seven points while swiping a pair of steals, and Shamari Johnson contributed six points. Finally, it was Timothaeus Graham and Ismael Martinez contributing five points apiece.

The Lions were led by Glen McBeth Jr. and Camren Welker, as they tied for the game-high of 21 points. McBeth Jr. also swiped a game-high four steals, and Welker's eight assists led all players. Isaiah Blunt chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds, and Charlie DeStephano's 18 rebounds led all players.

Nassau connected on 44.3 percent of its shots for the evening (35-79), while Bronx earned a conversion rate of 35.8 (19-53). The Lions held a dominant 58-26 edge on the glass, while also swiping 24 steals to the Broncos' six. Nassau earned 17 assists, while Bronx had 11, and the Broncos swatted four shots to the Lions' three. The visitors won the turnover battle, committing 20 miscues, while the hosts finished with 32.

The Broncos will return to action on Thursday evening, as Bronx will travel to Brooklyn, NY to take on Kingsborough. Start-time for the CUNY clash is scheduled for 8:00pm.
