Men's basketball defeated by Tigers in CUNY C.C.C. action at RFK Gymnasium in Bayside, NY

The Bronx Broncos' men's basketball team suffered a CUNY Community College Conference defeat on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Tigers of Queenborough by a score of 73-59 at the RFK Gymnasium in Bayside, NY. With the defeat, the Broncos dipped to a mark of 1-9 (0-4 CUNY C.C.C.), while the Tigers improved to 4-4 (3-0 CUNY C.C.C.) with the victory.

Despite the loss for the Broncos, Bronx was paced by veteran Abraham Richter, as he finished with a team-high 15 points (7-12 FG) while snatching a game-best 13 rebounds, dishing four assists, and adding three steals. Andi Metaliaj finished with 14 points (5-9 FG) and five rebounds, and Abraham Shihadeh finalized his afternoon with 12 points.

Pacing the Tigers was Diego Cruz Lopez as he recorded game-highs of 19 points and four steals while also snatching four rebounds. William Guzman posted a double-double with 18 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. He also registered six assists and two steals. Brandon Sun finished with 16 points, three dimes, three steals, and two boards, and Cadell Inniss' eight assists led all players.

Queensborough converted on 44.1 percent of its shot attempts on the evening (30-68), while Bronx connected on just 24 of 67 shot attempts (35.8 percent). The Tigers held a slim 37-34 edge on the glass, while also dishing 21 assists to the Broncos' 16. Queensborough narrowly won the turnover battle, committing 18 miscues to Bronx's 22, and the hosts swiped 11 steals, while Bronx had 10.

The Broncos will wrap up calendar year 2024 on Tuesday evening, as Bronx will welcome LaGuardia Community College to the Alumni Gymnasium for a CUNY Community College Conference clash. Start-time is scheduled for 8:00pm.
