Resilient Broncos rally from eight point deficit to defeat Twins 74-69 at Alumni Gymnasium

In a battle of teams searching for their first victory, the Broncos' men's basketball team came up victorious, defeating the Twins of Columbia-Greene Community College by a score of 74-69. The game took place at the Alumni Gymnasium in the Bronx. With the victory, the Broncos improved to a mark of 1-6 on the 2024-2025 campaign, while the Twins slipped to a mark of 0-6.

James Wenzel put forth another stellar effort for the Broncos, connecting on nine of his 17 shots from the floor, finishing with a game-high 24 points. He also added three assists, three swatted shots, and a pair of steals. Fellow veteran Abraham Richter drilled four shots from downtown, and seven of his eight attempts overall to finalize his evening with 20 points, a game-high 10 rebounds, three helpers, and three blocks, and Alexander Romero scored 14 points, collected four boards, and dished two assists. Alexander Hattel contributed five assists and four steals.

Christian Moses paced the visitors with a team-best 21 points. His seven assists also led all players, and he grabbed six rebounds and swiped four steals. Jacob Mance scored 20 points while grabbing five rebounds, and Kayne Foster finished with 11 points, three assists, and a pair of rebounds. Savior Arroyo narrowly missed a double-double, scoring nine points and nine boards.

Down 27-19 with 4:50 remaining in the opening half, the Broncos finished the session on a ferocious 14-3 run to snatch a 33-30 edge at the break. Bronx would outscore Columbia-Greene 41-39 in the final 20 minutes to account for the 74-69 victory.

Bronx connected on 54.2 percent of its attempts from the floor (26-48), while the Twins earned a 48.2 percent conversion rate (27-56). Columbia-Greene held a slim 31-27 edge on the glass, but the Broncos earned 18 assists compared to 12 for the Twins. The opportunistic Broncos held a 13-7 advantage in steals, and Bronx also won the turnover battle, committing 18 miscues while forcing 21 visitor mistakes.

The Broncos will return to action on Tuesday evening, as Bronx will host Dutchess Community College at the Alumni Gymnasium. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 8:00pm.
