Pamela Sierra earns CUNY Community College Rookie of the Year distinction

CUNY announced its community college postseason All-Stars for the 2024 women's volleyball season on Thursday afternoon, and Bronx was represented by Pamela Sierra, as she standout was named the Rookie of the Year. Following the announcement of the award, Head Coach Orlando Vargas spoke about Sierra achieving the accolade.

"Pamela has truly been a tremendous two-way player for us in her rookie season, and I am truly overjoyed to her receive this tremendous honor that has been bestowed upon her," Vargas said. "She was our team leader in kills, service aces, and digs, and she continued to improve and get more potent as the 2024 season progressed. Now one of the cornerstones of this program, we are looking forward to seeing the impact she can have on our team as a sophomore in 2025."

On the offensive side, Sierra was a true difference-maker for the Broncos. In 17 matches played, she registered 111 kills and 43 service aces. Five times she registered 10 kills or more in a match, with her achieving her season-high of 15 kills twice – both instances against the Caimans of Hostos.

Defensively, Sierra registered a whopping 156 digs, an average of 2.79 digs per set. Seven times she reached double figures in that category, with her season-high of 22 coming in an October 8 home contest against Hostos.
