Broncos earn first victory under Cleon Hibbert, shut out Falcons 2-0

The Broncos' men's soccer team picked up its first victory in the Cleon Hibbert era on Thursday afternoon, as Bronx turned back the Falcons of Dutchess Community College by a score of 2-0. The match took place on the campus of Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. With the victory, Bronx improved to 1-4-1 on the 2023 campaign, while the hosts dipped to 0-7.

Scoring the goals for the victorious Broncos on the afternoon were Ashraf Abubakar and Abdul Mohammed. For Abubakar, it was his team-leading third goal for the Broncos, while Mohammed scored his second tally of the season.

Bronx netminder Edwin Martinez played exceptionally well in net, earning the shutout and victory while making seven stops.

The teams registered 13 shots apiece in the contest.

Bronx will look to make it two consecutive victories when the Broncos battle Westchester Community College Tuesday at Ohio Field. Start-time is scheduled for 4:00pm.
