The Broncos' women's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday afternoon, falling to host Nassau Community College by scores of 5-25, 11-25, and 8-25, while also suffering a defeat to the Express of Monroe-Bronx by scores of 5-25, 5-25, and 5-25.
Despite Bronx's loss to Nassau, the Broncos were paced by newcomer
Abigail Cabrera's two kills and two assists.
Liany Parrot added two assists and a pair of digs, and
Leslie Ferrer also finished with two digs.
The Lions were led by Sarah Kollarik, as she registered a match-high 10 kills, hitting .375 in the process (10-4-16). She also added three digs, as well. Synia Carter and Lauren Hawley contributed six kills apiece, with Hawley also adding five assists and three digs. Standout Elizabeth Wagner finished with a match-high 15 assists, and she also tied for the match high of six service aces. Finally, it was Morgan Sullivan finalizing her afternoon with five assists and six service aces.
In the Broncos' loss to the Express,
Keity Liberata and
Kaylyn Radcliff notched a kill apiece, while Ferrer and Parrot added five and three digs, respectively.
For the Express, Luisanni Rodriguez led the way with five kills, 14 assists, four service aces, and a dig. Yasmel Molina finished with eight digs while registering an ace. Xing Stewart-Greer had a match-high seven service aces. Lesly Almonte had a strong performance with four kills, just as many service aces, and two digs. Lisanel Rodriguez contributed four kills and four service aces, while providing two digs and an assist. Maria Melendez generated four kills and a block. Castaneda finished with four ace while notching four digs and tallying a kill. Chelsea Nolasco had a pair of kills, while Selena Mitchell generated three service aces and a kill.
The Broncos will return to action on Wednesday evening, as Bronx will host CUNYAC Kingsborough Community College. Start time at the Alumni Gymnasium is scheduled for 6:00pm.
