Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Broncos defeated by Tigers 2-1 in double overtime at Ohio Field

The Broncos men's soccer team suffered a tough defeat on Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Tigers of Queensborough Community College by a score of 2-1 in double overtime. The match took place at Ohio Field in the Bronx. With the defeat, the Broncos fell to 2-6 on the season, and 1-2 in CUNYAC action. The Tigers improved to 6-3 on the year, and an unblemished 3-0 in conference play.

Bronx was eliminated from contention for the CUNYAC title game with the loss, while Queensborough punched its ticket for the championship clash, which is scheduled to be played on October 17th.

Following a scoreless opening session, the Tigers took the lead at 47:38 when Dennis Sumba found the back of the net, receiving a pass from Juan Flores before depositing the ball into the goal to give his team a 1-0 edge. 6:22 later, the Broncos tied the game when Mohamed Fadiga netted the equalizer, taking advantage of a beautiful pass from Jordy Leon before blasting the ball home to make it 1-1.

The crucial conference contest remained tied as time expired on regulation. After a scoreless first overtime stanza, Queensborough broke through for the golden goal when Anthony Gallardo would score at 105:44 (from Saleel Eldin) to give his team the victory.

The Broncos will return to the pitch on Thursday afternoon, as Bronx will host Dutchess Community College. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 3:30pm.
