Blaise Atanga brilliant play is not enough to beat Brookdale

On Saturday, the Bronx Broncos men's basketball team goal was to defeat the Brookdale Community College Jersey Blues.   

In Lincroft, NJ, the Jersey Blues (7 - 0) stayed undefeated and nationally ranked # 14 in the NJCAA Division III with a win over the Broncos by a final score of 100 - 76.

Blaise Atanga led the Broncos (2 - 6) with 21 points and added a game high seventeen boards, while Julien Shepard grabbed 11 rebounds and added eight points.
 
Brookdale had the lead at the end of the 1st half by score of 47 - 28.  That lead was maintained during the second half.

The Broncos shot 37.0 percent in the game.   The woes from the 3 point area continued with a 16.2 percent for the game.  From the free throw line, the Broncos made 14 of 19 for a 73.7 percent for the game.    Turnovers and missed 2nd chance field goal attempts at crucial time are not helping the team scoring production.
 
Atanga had 6 steals, 3 assist and 2 blocks.  He made 4 turnovers and had 4 personal fouls.  His performance met high expectations.

Brandon Martinez scored 15 points.  Malik Dale scored 11 points.  Michael Morgan scored 14 points and Emmanuel Garcia scored 5 points.
 
The Broncos are back in action Tuesday, December 7 when they host the Borough of Manhattan Community College Panthers at Alumni Gym for a 7 p.m. contest.
