Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Despite registering 20 shots, Broncos get shut down in 6-0 defeat to Sharks at Ohio Field

The Broncos men's soccer team dropped a home match on Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Sharks of Suffolk C.C. by a score of 6-0 at Ohio Field. With the defeat, Bronx slipped under .500 once again, now sitting at 3-4 on the season. The Sharks improved to 6-5 with the triumph.

Suffolk's first two goals came courtesy of standout Emmanuel Kwansah. His first was an unassisted tally at the 20:08 mark. Later in the stanza, at 28:06, he received a beautiful cross pass from Gio Fiore before burying the ball into the back of the net to catapult the Sharks to a 2-0 advantage.

In the latter stages of the first half, the Sharks' Jeferson Saravia-Garcia would score his team's third goal of the afternoon, taking advantage of a crisp pass from Justin Carpio before tapping the ball home to give Suffolk a commanding 3-0 edge. That would be the score as the first half came to a close.

At 58:30 of the contest, Kimani Clarke would score to make it 4-0 in favor of the Sharks (Juan Morales registered the assist on the goal). Much later in the half, Clarke would strike again, netting his team's fifth goal of the afternoon at 85:39 (from Kwansah). Jevoun McKeller capped the scoring for Suffolk, burying a penalty kick at 87:05 to account for his team's sixth goal.

Despite Suffolk dominating on the scoreboard, the shots margin wasn't very wide, as the Sharks registered 23 shots on the afternoon compared to 20 for Bronx. Fouls were nearly even as well, with Suffolk getting whistled for 19 infractions compared to 18 for the Broncos. The Sharks earned six corner kicks, while the Broncos had three.

Suffolk goalkeeper Kyle Martinez recorded the shutout, making seven saves in the process. Bronx netminder Vsevolod Orlov made five saves despite taking the loss.

Bronx will return to action on Thursday afternoon, as the Broncos will face Kingsborough in a crucial CUNYAC match at Ohio Field. Start-time is scheduled for 4:00pm.
