Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Broncos use powerful offensive performance to overwhelm SUNY Orange 9-1 in Saturday action

The Broncos men's soccer team picked up their most convincing victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, blowing out the Colts of SUNY Orange by a score of 9-1 in Middletown, NY. With the victory, Bronx leveled their record at 3-3 for the 2019 campaign.

The most recent lopsided victory for Bronx came two years ago today, when the Broncos turned back Dutchess by a score of 11-3 back on September 21, 2017.

Bronx scored early an often in this one, peppering four goals into the net within the opening 20 minutes of action. Muhammad Bajo scored just 2:50 into the action (from Marcos Barrios), and Barrios increased the Broncos' edge to 2-0 just 70 seconds later (with an assist from Shaibu Musah). Consecutive goals by standout Robert Afful at 17:30 (from Bajo) and 19:32 (from Musah) catapulted the Broncos to a commanding 4-0 lead.

SUNY Orange was able to get on the scoreboard at 21:00 when Jager Berkley found the back of the net. Tahiem McCormick registered the assist on the goal. The Broncos answered six minutes later at the 27:00 minute mark when Afful swung a beautiful pass over to Amadou Dieng, who slashed the ball into the net to put Bronx ahead 5-1. That would be the final goal scored of the opening stanza.

In the second half, the Broncos continued to light up the scoreboard, adding four more goals within a 15-minute span. Ruddy Segura (at 55:00 on a free kick), Barrios (58:00, from Segura), Gerson Gonzalez (62:00, from N'Famara Diawara), and Segura again (70:00 from Baba Anne) accounted for those aforementioned four second half goals.

Bronx will return to action on Tuesday afternoon, as the Broncos will host the Sharks of Suffolk County C.C. The match takes place at Ohio Field, with a start-time of 4:00pm.
