Monroe-Bronx's Edwin Zuniga Lopez scores four goals as Express shuts down Broncos, 6-0

The Broncos men's soccer team were overwhelmed on Tuesday afternoon, falling to the undefeated Express of Monroe-Bronx by a score of 6-0. The match took place at Ohio Field. With the defeat the Broncos fell to 2-3 on the 2019 campaign. Monroe-Bronx stayed unbeaten, improving to 5-0-1.
 
Bronx was able to hold the Express off the scoreboard in the early stages of the contest, thanks mostly to the incredible play in net by Vsevolod Orlov, as he stopped a total of three shots from point blank range within a span of 27 seconds (11:49 to 12:16). The Broncos weren't able to contain Monroe-Bronx for long, though, as the Express netted four first half goals.
 
The first of Monroe-Bronx's tally's came off the foot of Emerson Guevara at 18:00. Edwin Peralta recorded an assist on the play. 5:31 later, the Express catapulted to a 2-0 advantage when Edwin Zuniga Lopez found the back of the net (assisted by Momodu Touray). Jean Woobens Zamy (34:25, from Elhadj Diallo) and Lopez (41:23, unassisted) rounded out the scoring with goals at the aforementioned times. The Express held a commanding 4-0 lead as the half came to a close.
 
In the second half, Lopez continued his incredible offensive performance, netting his third and fourth goals of the contest at 80:02 and 83:35 to give the Express a 6-0 edge. The Broncos made a push to break up the shutout, registering four shots in the final 4:01 of action, but were unable to score, as the Express was able to record the shutout victory.
 
Monroe-Bronx out-shot the Broncos 31-24 for the match.
 
Despite the loss for Bronx, Orlov registered 12 saves despite allowing the six goals. On the flip side, Express netminder Fred Guillou stopped 11 shots in earning the shutout.
 
The Broncos will look to bounce back on Saturday afternoon, as they'll face SUNY Orange on the road. Start-time is scheduled for 12:00pm.
