Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Defending CUNYAC champion BMCC records scored three goals in final 10 minutes to defeat Bronx, 4-3

The Broncos men's soccer team suffered a very difficult defeat Tuesday afternoon, falling to the defending CUNYAC champions, the Panthers of the Borough of Manhattan Community College, by a score of 4-3. The match took place at Ohio Field. With the defeat, Bronx dipped to 1-2 on the season, while the Panthers grabbed their first victory, improving to 1-0-1.

Things looked promising for the speedy Broncos early, as Bronx netted a pair of goals 10:05 apart to catapult ahead by a score of 2-0. Muhammad Bajo netted the Broncos first goal at 2:32 (from Shaibu Musah), and Ruddy Segura, who scored Bronx's loan goal against Bergen five days earlier, pushed Bronx ahead 2-0 with a tally (Baba Anne picked up the assist on the play). The aforementioned 2-0 score would remain intact as the first half came through a close.

Bronx owned the first 45 minutes of action, but the Panthers were clearly the more efficient club in the final session. Michael Konadu tallied BMCC's first goal in the 61st minute (60:59, from Kelvin Auquilla). 58 seconds later, the Broncos answered with an unassisted tally by Baba Anne, as Bronx re-took a two-goal edge at 3-1.

Over the ensuing 18:03, neither team was able to find the back of the net, but the Panthers dominated the final 10 minutes of action. Konadu netted his second goal of the game (this time from Samuel Boadu) at 80:00, and Jhon Calderon headed home the equalizer off a gorgeous pass from Djiby Diallo.

With four seconds remaining, BMCC capped its incredible comeback when Elhadji Ady Gaye scored from deep in the box, slipping the ball just inside the right corner of the net, sending the Panthers bench into a celebratory frenzy. That tally served as the match-winner.

BMCC held a 31-10 edge in the shots category, and the Broncos committed 29 fouls compared to 10 for the Panthers. BMCC netminder Miguel Alvarez allowed three goals and made four stops in net, and Bronx goalkeeper Vsevelod Orlov made some incredible saves, and nine overall, despite taking the loss.

The Broncos will try to bounce back on Thursday afternoon, as Bronx will travel to Suffern, NY for a match against Rockland. Start-time is scheduled for 4:00pm.
