Broncos can't overcome shooting struggles as Bronx falls to Bulldogs, 91-79 on Saturday afternoon

The Broncos men's basketball team settled for a split in its trip to Massachusetts, as Bronx suffered a 91-79 loss to Bunker Hill Community College on Saturday afternoon. With the defeat, the Broncos slipped to 1-3 on the 2019-2020 season.

Despite the loss for Bronx, the Broncos were once again paced by Tilquan Rucker. Rucker scored 24 points on the afternoon, but only connected on 10 of his 30 attempts from the floor. The standout also added seven steals, six caroms, and four assists, while logging 40 minutes of action.

Andre Carthorn put forth a solid effort for the Broncos, as he drilled three shots from downtown on his way to finishing with 15 points. He also registered eight assists and snatched five rebounds.

Malik Hamilton continues to post double-doubles, as he netted 11 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. It was the sophomore's third double-double in four contests this season, after producing just one of those during the 2018-2019 campaign.

Bronx's shooting was a problem in this one. The Broncos connected on just 31 of their 80 attempts on the afternoon (38.8 percent), and that included a 33 percent conversion rate on three-point attempts (9-27). Bronx also misfired on 12 free throws, shooting just 40 percent from the charity stripe (8-20).

The Broncos will look to right the ship on Tuesday evening, as Bronx will travel to New Rochelle, NY to take on Monroe-Bronx. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 7:00pm.
