Women’s volleyball suffers three-set defeat to BMCC in final home conference match of 2019 campaign

The Broncos women's volleyball team dropped their final CUNYAC home match of the 2019 regular season on Tuesday evening, falling to the Panthers of the Borough of Manhattan Community College by scores of 14-25, 11-25, and 18-25 at the Alumni Gym. With the loss, Bronx fell to 1-15, and 0-4 in CUNYAC competition. The Panthers improved to 4-6 on the year, and 2-1 in conference action.

Despite the loss for Bronx, Nicole Santos led the Broncos with a team-high three kills. She also added seven digs. Alondra Mesa contributed a pair of kills and led all players with 20 digs for the evening, and Nayely Rodriguez recorded five assists and tallied seven digs.

In the victory for the Panthers, Nolverys Hernandez recorded match-highs of nine kills and four service aces, while also posting a team-high of 16 digs. Irina Kovalchuck finalized her evening with five kills and eight digs, and It was Laisha Ulerio and Kaylin Nieves compiling 18 and 10 assists, respectively.

Bronx will return to action on Saturday afternoon, as the Broncos will head to Monroe-Bronx. The Broncos will play a neutral match against Dutchess at noon, before taking on the Express at 1:15pm.
