Women's volleyball splits pair of matches in Middletown, NY, falling to SUNY Orange before defeating SUNY Sullivan

The Broncos women's volleyball team split a pair of matches in Middletown, NY on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Colts of SUNY Orange by a score of 12-25, 21-25, 25-22, and 10-25, before bouncing back to turn back the Generals of SUNY Sullivan in straight sets, 25-22, 25-16, and 25-21. With the output, Bronx is now 1-14 on the 2019 campaign.

Bronx lost to SUNY Orange despite a strong effort from newcomer Nossamba Kone, as she led the Broncos with nine kills to go along with 17 digs and a service ace. Alondra Mesa put together a fine all-around effort, as she registered five kills, five assists, and 15 digs. She also hit .364 for the match. Finally, it was Nayely Rodriguez addeding a pair of kills, 14 assists, and six digs.

The Broncos shook off the defeat to SUNY Orange well, as Bronx rebounded to record its first victory of the year with a strong effort against SUNY Sullivan. In Bronx's victory over the Generals, Rodriguez put forth a balanced performance, recording four kills, eight assists, five service aces, and five digs, while hitting .333 for the match. Kone contributed four kills, seven digs, and two service aces, and Mesa added eight digs.

Bronx will play its final CUNYAC home match of the 2019 season on Tuesday evening, as the Broncos will welcome the Panthers of the Borough of Manhattan Community College to the Alumni Gym. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 7:00pm.
